Transport is very important for every country, and governments must decide how to spend their money. Some people think that the government should spend money on railways instead of roads. I partly agree with this idea, but I think both of them are necessary.
There are good reasons to support the railways. Trains can carry a large number of people and goods at the same time, so they reduce the traffic on the roads. They are also better for the environment, because a train produces less pollution than many cars. In big cities, a good train system can save people a lot of time, because they do not need to sit in a traffic jam every day. For these reasons, investing in railways can be very useful.
However, I do not completely agree that roads are not important. Many people live in small villages where there is no train station, so they need roads to travel and to receive goods. Ambulances, buses and trucks also use the roads every day. If the government spend all the money on railways and forget the roads, these roads will become old and dangerous. Then accidents will increase and people in the countryside will feel forgotten.
In conclusion, I agree that railways are important and deserve more investment, especially in big cities. But I do not think the government should spend money only on railways. In my opinion, a good country needs both good railways and good roads, so the money should be shared between them in a fair way.
