Some people believe that businesses should not only think about making money, but also have responsibilities to the society. I completely agree with this opinion, because companies are an important part of the community and their actions affect many people.
There are several reasons why I support this view. Firstly, businesses use the resources of the society, such as workers, roads, water and electricity. Therefore, it is fair that they also give something back, for example by protecting the environment and treating their workers well. Secondly, big companies have a lot of power and money, so they can help to solve social problems. For example, a company can support education, help poor people or reduce its pollution. This makes life better for everybody in the community. Companies that ignore these duties, on the other hand, often damage the environment and harm the people who live near them, which is bad for the whole society.
However, some people think that the only job of a business is to make profit and pay taxes. They say that if a company spends money on social projects, it will earn less and maybe lose in the competition.
In my opinion, this argument is not correct, because being responsible can actually help a business. When a company cares about the society and the environment, customers trust it more and want to buy its products. In conclusion, I strongly agree that businesses have social responsibilities as well as making money, because this is good for both the society and the company itself.
