In the modern world, many traditional cultures are changing or disappearing. Some people think that modernisation is the cause of this problem, while others believe that it is just a natural process. In this essay I will discuss both views and give my opinion.
On one hand, some people believe that modernisation destroys traditional culture. Because of globalisation and technology, young people now watch the same films, listen to the same music and eat the same food from other countries. As a result, they slowly forget their own traditions, language and customs. In many places, old festivals and handicrafts are disappearing because young people are not interested in them anymore. So modernisation can be a real danger for local cultures.
On the other hand, other people think that this change is natural. Culture has always changed through history, because societies never stay the same. When people meet other cultures, they take some new ideas and give up some old ones, and this is a normal part of human life. From this point of view, we should not be too worried, because culture is always developing.
In my opinion, both views have some truth. Modernisation does put traditional cultures in danger, but change itself is natural. I think the best solution is that we accept new things but also try to protect the most important parts of our culture, for example through education and museums. In conclusion, culture will always change, but we should make an effort to keep our valuable traditions alive.
