Band 6 model answer

Food is an important part of every culture. Some people think that traditional food is being lost, while others believe that new food trends are a positive development. In this essay I will discuss both views and give my opinion.

On one hand, some people are worried that traditional food is disappearing. Because of globalisation, fast food restaurants and foreign food are everywhere, and many young people prefer them instead of the traditional dishes of their country. Also, modern life is very busy, so people do not have time to cook the traditional recipes, which often take a long time to prepare. As a result, some old recipes are slowly forgotten, and this is a loss for the culture.

On the other hand, other people think that new food trends are a good thing. When people try food from other countries, they learn about different cultures and their meals become more interesting and varied. New trends also bring healthy options, like more vegetables and less sugar, which are good for people. In addition, mixing traditional and modern food can create new and delicious dishes. In this way, food can change and grow without losing all of its old character.

In my opinion, both views are partly correct. New food trends are positive because they bring variety and new ideas, but at the same time we should not forget our traditional food, which is an important part of our identity. In conclusion, I believe that people can enjoy new food trends and also keep their traditional dishes alive at the same time.
