Some people think homesickness is a positive thing. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

有人认为思乡是一种积极的情感。你在多大程度上同意或反对?

Band 6 model answer

When people leave their home to live or study in another place, they often feel homesickness. Some people think that homesickness is actually a positive thing. I partly agree with this opinion, because homesickness has both good and bad sides.

On one hand, there are some reasons to see homesickness as positive. When a person misses his family and his home, it shows that he has strong and loving relationships, which is a good thing. Homesickness can also make people appreciate their family more, and they learn how important their home is only when they are far away. In addition, dealing with homesickness helps young people to become stronger and more independent, because they must learn to solve their problems alone.

On the other hand, homesickness can also be very negative. If the feeling is too strong, a person can become sad, lonely and even depressed. Some students cannot concentrate on their study because they are always thinking about home, and a few of them even decide to go back and give up their opportunity. This shows that homesickness is not always a small problem, and if a person cannot control it, it may even change his whole future in a bad way.

In my opinion, homesickness is a natural feeling that can be positive if it is not too strong. It teaches people to value their family and to become more independent. In conclusion, I partly agree that homesickness is positive, but people should learn to control it so that it does not damage their life and their important goals.
