Everybody agrees that education is very important, but people do not agree about how to improve it. Some people think the best way is to increase teachers' salaries, while others believe there are better ways. In this essay I will discuss both views and give my opinion.
On one hand, there are good reasons to pay teachers more. Teaching is a very difficult and important job, but in many countries the salary is quite low. Because of this, some talented people choose other careers with more money, so the schools cannot find enough good teachers. If the salaries are higher, more clever people will become teachers, and the teachers who are already working will feel more motivated and happy. This can improve the quality of education.
On the other hand, some people think there are better ways to improve education. For example, the government can reduce the number of students in each class, build better schools, and buy more books, computers and equipment. Better training for teachers is also very important, because good teaching methods can help students more than only money. Some people say that money alone does not make a teacher better if the school system has other problems. A good school also needs a clear plan and good leaders, not only high salaries.
In my opinion, increasing teachers' salaries is important, but it should not be the only solution. In conclusion, I believe that good salaries, smaller classes and better training should all be used together, because education is a complex problem that needs more than one answer.
