Nowadays, some people believe that cities should spend more money on green spaces like parks and gardens. Other people think that there are more important things to focus on. In this essay I will discuss both opinions, and I think green spaces are important but not the most important thing.
On one hand, parks and gardens give many benefits to a city. Firstly, they are good for the health because people can make exercise there, such as running or playing with their children. Also, green spaces make the air more clean and reduce the heat in summer. When people feel stress from their work, a quiet park can help them to relax. For these reason, many citizens enjoy living near a green area.
On the other hand, some people say the money should go to other priorities. Cities have many problems like hospitals, schools and public transport, and these things are necessary for everyday life. If a government spend too much on gardens, maybe there is not enough budget for medical care or roads. A person who is poor and sick will need a hospital more than a new park.
In my opinion, both sides have good points, but I believe basic services should come first. However, this does not mean green spaces are not useful. The best solution is that cities try to balance the two things, and build small parks while they also improve hospitals and schools. In conclusion, green spaces are valuable, but the government must to think carefully about the most urgent needs of the people.
