Today, many websites and apps collect our personal data when we use them. Some people accept this online tracking because it gives them convenience, but other people think that privacy is more important. In this essay I will discuss both sides and give my opinion.
On one hand, there are reasons why people accept tracking. When a website knows what we like, it can show us useful products and recommendation. For example, a shopping app can suggest things that we really want to buy, and a map app can give faster directions. This make our life more easy and save our time. Many people think that if the service is free and useful, it is okay to share some information.
On the other hand, some people worry about their privacy. They do not like that the companies know so much about their life, such as where they go and what they buy. Sometimes the data can be stolen by hackers or sold to other companies without permission. If we lose the control of our personal information, this can be dangerous and also we feel uncomfortable. In addition, once a company has our data, it is very hard to delete it or to know who can see it.
In my opinion, privacy is very important, but some tracking is acceptable if the company is honest and ask for permission. I think the government should make strong rules to protect people's data. In conclusion, online tracking has both good and bad sides, and there must be a good balance between convenience and privacy.
