When we use the internet, many companies collect information about us, such as the websites we visit and the things we buy. Some people accept this tracking because it makes their online life more convenient, but others think that privacy is more important. I will discuss both views and give my opinion.
On one hand, tracking gives people some real benefits. Because a website remembers what we like, it can show useful advertisements and recommend products that fit our taste. This save time, because we do not need to search for a long time to find what we want. Streaming apps also use our history to suggest films and music, and many users enjoy this feature. For these people, sharing a little data is a fair exchange for a free and easy service.
On the other hand, some people are very worried about their private life. They do not feel comfortable that companies know their location, their habits and even their opinions. This information can be used to show advertisements that manipulate people, or it can be given to other companies without asking. If the data is not protected well, hackers can steal it and use it for crimes like fraud. Once this happen, it is very difficult to get the control of our information back.
In my opinion, privacy is more important than convenience, but a small amount of tracking is acceptable when the user agree. The government must create strong laws so companies cannot use our data in a bad way. In conclusion, online tracking has some advantages, but people's privacy should always be protected first.
